GP Saddles
If you see a saddle or ten that you like the look of, or even if you hate them all, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. (Details available on the Contact Us page). We try not to sell saddles simply on what you think you need and always prefer to fit to you and your horse because that's often a different story altogether! Saddle fitting can be done at your place or mine and is included in the price of any saddle of €200 or more within 30 miles. If you spend less or live further fees start at €30 to cover petrol. Also included is a 14 day full money back happiness guarantee If you want to go it alone that's fine too, saddles can be posted out for €20, full refund on safe return within 14 days.
194. Made by Paul Jones, this 17.5 medium fit GP is in fair order, has a useful kneeroll and shouldn't break the bank at €290
196. Stubben Parzival in sparkling condition, 18in seat 28 fit (a bit narrow of medium), this saddle has hardly been out of the box, longing for a busier life €495
197. This English saddle is unbranded, with a long flap and semi deep seat. 17.5in and the fit is medium narrow. €250
152. Brown gp saddle from Barker Saddlery. Large knee rolls and thigh blocks making this saddle secure and comfortable. Lovely soft seat for those seeking a bit of comfort. 17.5" seat, medium fitting. €475
176. Black Albion K2 GP, 17.5 mm tree (medium warm blood). Great condition, slightly stretched seat, naughty little thing is facing the wrong way! €550
141. This one seems to like it here and has been before. 18in Excelle (English company now gobbled up by Ideal) it has a wide gullet and big wide load spreading panels which any horse will love you for. Wide fitting it has a slightly curved contour so not for a very flat back. Square cantle and large forward flaps should carry you all day in comfort. €395
142. I have to say that came up well with a clean. 17in Beaufort (made, I think, by Lovatt and Ricketts) medium fit this one is brown and is in good order but has been round the block a time or two. The seat has lost some colour but retains a shiny surface. Bit of wear on the flaps and front of the seat but a useful GP for every day and shouldn't break the bank at €180
140. Great condition black saddle by Paul Jones, a value for money English brand which is popular across many disciplines. This one has an 18in seat but the panel is a little shorter so could suit a shorter backed horse teamed with a fuller figure rider. Little used it has a flocked panel and wide gullet, I would put the fit on the wide side of medium wide. Nice and shiny, smart saddle, could go hunting or make a comfy GP. €440
213. GFS Pro Event this is the VSD model for those who have a closet dressage habit but like to get out and about with the gang too. Black and in very clean condition the seat is a generous 17.5in, a very soft and well cared for saddle, the tree is on the wide side of medium wide. These sometimes work well on big shouldered horses but are a good tempered fit option for many. Flock panel which is in good condition. €325
82. Another biggy this one is 18in + and medium wide. Made by Global (a Walsall firm of times gone by) it is one of the best ones of theirs I have come across. Solid quality with low miles I'd say this has been stored. One new strap fitted and the rest have been restitched as the thread was a bit dodgy. Good black colour, the only snag is a couple of light teeth marks where a horse has tried to take a bite. Really generous flaps, could suit a long legged pilot. €285
112. Slightly unusual GFS this is not the common cut but rather deeper in the seat so if you are a bit wobbly or just like the feel of it could make you feel safe. Sits slightly narrower than these usually do but well supported with deep gussets. Very smart there is a small bit of colour loss on the cantle but no leather wear or damage so this can soon be put right with a dab of dye. It is a 17in or possibly small 17.5 on a medium tree and has hardly been out of the box since new, lovely condition, someone should be pleased with this. €450
58. Black Manor Saddlery, 17.5in, this one has a good wide panel which gives a good bearing surface and wide gullet. Secure seat it is a GP although slightly straighter than average. There are 5 straps on each side to help perfect fit and security (I recommend that you mark your chosen straps with a bit of coloured tape to help you use the same ones on each side, each time) and is on a medium wide tree. €300
104. Solid trade - back this Stubben Seigfried is a 28 (medium) and has good head space (clearance over the wither from the tops of the padded parts of the panel). Advanced years have hardly made an impression on the stoutly built old quality of this, I'd say it has a good few years to look forward to. What happened to Stubben? This just puts the saddles they produce today in the shade for toughness and durability, though perhaps not for sumptuous luxury. 18in, €250 (a little creature is hiding under those planks)
2. 17in X wide or even XX wide this little english saddle is in new condition and was a made to measure for a lad who took early retirement. Straight enough to show in but with enough knee roll to support some fun (planned or otherwise). For the full figure it sports a point strap to help you find a bit of security on a swiss roll. €550
55. GFS not Flair. Although marked with the Flair badge this one has been converted to Flock. It is a job I do quite often on an old air system as they can cause trouble of various sorts - next time I'll post some pics and explain. Air leaks, plastic fatigue, ageing sellotape joints and plastic over laps showing through the leather all crop up. So all flocked and good to go, 17.5in with a wide tree €320
30. This one has a narrow 17.5in seat, well flocked panel gussets at the back and I know it has a leaning towards horses who are slightly big in front but a little lower under the saddle. Made by Lovatt and Ricketts on a medium tree it is in fair condition but as so often happens with black saddles there is some colour fading on top. A bargain at €230 because of it.
