Repairs
Because I am a qualified saddler I am able to offer a full repairing service on site including major repairs such as tree replacements or new seats. If you are stuck without a saddle while yours is in for repair don't panic, I take no pleasure in making you ride bare back and can usually find something to tide you over, which is all part of the service. If it is a small repair book it in for same day or while you wait or consider an overhaul while you are away on holiday.
Saddle Fitting
I do prefer to fit a saddle to a horse where possible and this can be done at your place or mine. If you bring the horse to me this service is free and saddle prices include any necessary flocking or alterations the saddle might need to fit your horse. If I come to you it is free if you spend €200 or more on a saddle and are within 30 miles, otherwise call out fees apply starting at €30 to cover petrol. I deliberately keep fitting costs as low as I can, as I think most riders benefit from trying more than one saddle and most horses benefit from an experienced eye, I try to see as many horses as I can and to keep this within reach for even the shallowest pocket. If you are happy to go it alone or have your own expert you are welcome to take saddles out to try, leaving appropriate security. Saddles can be posted out to you for a cost of €20, you will have to pay return cost but if they arrive back in good condition a full refund is paid. If you choose to try or buy a saddle I allow a 14 days period to get to know it thoroughly and have a good trial after which you can return it for full refund or exchange if you have not fallen in love. If more time passes you can still trade it at any stage.
If you have a problem with your existing saddle I will do what I can to help. If you are looking for a new saddle I am afraid I can only fit saddles I am selling myself, however I will give any saddle a safety check for a small fee - €10.

Saddle Trees
I can alter most saddle trees up to at least one tree size which is done in conjunction with flocking to maximize fit and it also helps to accommodate changing and developing horse shape. In the event of an accident I can obtain and fit a new tree for you, depending on the brand, subsequently refitting to your horse.

Flocking
I prefer to flock to fit a horse and can do this at your place or mine. If you need full replacement either of flock or a tired Cair or Flair system the price includes a check and top up after the saddle has been used (usually 3 - 6 months).

Seats
Sadly there is no pretty way to mend a seat once it is worn out or got damaged other than complete replacement. Modern soft saddles can wear out horrifyingly quickly, sometimes in as little as a couple of years of serious use. Replacement is long and complicated and the new leather has to be wet moulded into shape. Expect your saddle to be away for at least 3 weeks, we will try to find a loan saddle for you but no guarantee on the level of comfort!

General Repairs
Most other repairs such as replacement 'd's or head nails, patches and stitching are charged by the hour, plus materials. We can mend most things made of leather including bags, gun cases, belts etc. And yes we do put ends on hunting crops.
